4 Ways to Make Your Employees Feel Valued

Employees are the driving force behind any successful business, which is why having a high-quality team is so important. If you’re lucky enough to have such employees, it’s vital that you let them know that their work is appreciated. Doing so will not only increase their performance but brighten their day, too. Here are a few ways you can make them feel valued.

Tell Them!

It really is that easy. Sometimes all it takes is simply pulling an employee aside to say ‘good job’ or recognizing their work during a meeting. It doesn’t always have to be a grand spectacle. Plus, this takes minimum effort and time. If you have a larger company, make announcements weekly for the team as a whole; whatever it takes to let them know you care.

Take Them on a Retreat

Nothing says thank you like taking everyone out on a retreat. These can be quarterly, semi-annually, or annually, and it gets everyone out of the office for a while so they can catch up and interact with one another outside of the workspace. This could be a fancy dinner, a trip to the beach, or even bowling. This is a fun and adventurous way to reward your employees, and they’re bound to love it.

Remember Their Birthday

Mark your calendar, because you’ve got a lot of birthdays to remember. Remembering someone’s birthday can mean a lot to them, especially if you have a decent amount of employees under your wing. You could get them a cake or even throw them a small surprise party in the office. If that seems like it would be too chaotic, buy them lunch that day. This brings us to the next point…

Give Them Grub

People like food. Yes, it’s really that simple. If you’re not a particularly creative person, you can always fall back on lunch. Ordering lunch for the office every once in a while is a great way to show the people you work with just how much they are valued. Tell them the day before to leave their lunch boxes at home, because lunch is on you—plus, who’s going to say no to a free meal?

Closing Thoughts

Whether they work in an office crunching numbers or out in the Florida Keys designing docks, like those at Rapid Permits, there are plenty of small things you can do as a business owner to let your employees know they are appreciated. Often times the gesture will be enough to let them know that their work is being noticed.
